Induction Heating
In the induction hardening of electrically conductive materials, such as steel and other materials, high-frequency heating is used to convert high-frequency electrical energy to heat directly inside the material to be hardened. The basic principle is a simple one. Conduction electrons in the outer shells of the atoms of the metal can move rather freely between the atoms, which are arranged in three-dimensional atomic lattices. When the material is subjected to an alternating magnetic field, these electrons move faster and faster as the frequency increases. Finally, the electrons collide with the atoms, thereby generating heat. The alternating magnetic field is said to induce eddy currents in the material. In practice, the magnetic energy is created by means of alternating-current coils laid around the materials to be hardened.
Inductive high-frequency heating is used for electrically conducting materials such as steel and other metals. At a high enough frequency, they collide with the atoms, which is what generates the heat. The alternating magnetic field is said to induce eddy currents in the material. Induction heating is taking over the heat treatment market from the conventional heat treatment methods. This advantage is due to our unique ability to provide a cost effective method that admits an accurate process control with the possibility of heating up a limited part of the application, as well as providing a better working environment
We develop and produce equipment for our customers based on their specific requirements and demands. The conditions vary from one customer to another, and it takes a great deal of flexibility and creativity to find the best solution for each application. Our machines can be freestanding or part of an integrated production line. Our generator frequency capacity is 1 kHz – 27 kHz whit an output power of 1kW and higher.
With most conventional heating methods, the heat is being generated in a furnace and transferred by conduction, radiation or convection to the application to be heated. Induction heating is generated when high frequency electric energy is transformed into heat in the application. Heat transportation related problems will be reduced to a minimum. A power of 0,1 – 20 W/cm2 is supplied to the application during conventional heating. Induction heating generates a transmission of energy with a power up to 10kW/cm2 and will reach the target temperature faster than other methods. Speed will increase with the frequency. Frequency working range for induction heating is approximately 1 kHz to 27 kHz. The process will take a fraction of a second, and the penetration depth of the application is controlled by varying the frequency.
